During April, the big event here in MiyakoJima is the national triathlon!
the entire island is thrown into a frenzy during this competition in which 1,500 athletes compete every year.
Participants must go through three stages of swimming (3 km), cycling (155 km), and running (42.2 km) within 14 hours to complete the race. While the course may be tough, participants can enjoy the beautiful view, cool breeze, and warm ocean of Miyako. The athletes could have to deal with a great numbers of difficulties; first, the current between the two islands of Miyako and Irabu, where the first stage of the triathlon takes place. Weather can also be a great hurdle, depending on the wind, the heat and the humidity rate (it’s a tropical island!).

We use to say that Holiday rhymes with relaxing stay 
And we totally agreed!
Indeed we went into a partnership with Raifu, a massage center located on the 5t floor of the building hosting our shop! Now we are able to offer our clients a large range of exotic massages, achieved by a professional, with very affordable prices!
So please do not hesitate to try the traditional Hogushi massage during your stay in Miyako, or why not daring a tonic Romi Romi (Hawaiian massage) or a relaxing Balinese Rinpa massage? The massage center has a nice view of the seafront, so you can fully enjoy this moment.
Hiroé-san, the professional, offers short massages (min 15mn) as the reflexoly massages, but also three “packs”, which can last more than an hour and a half! A word to the wise…

je voulais m’excuser auprès de tous les lecteurs pour l’absence de post. Je suis vraiment très pris avec mon activité ici sur miyakojima, qui commence à relativement bien prendre forme et je n’ai que très peu de temps, que je consacre à ma femme et à ma fille. La fréquence des articles devrais reprendre en courant de cette semaine. Il fait aussi beau ici en hiver qu’en été, il y a aucune raison de ne pas vous faire profiter de belles photos de plages au mois de decembre par exemple.
A tres tres vite pour de nombreux et frequent post sur ce blog, en francais et bientot en anglais.
Au fait, que voudriez vous voir que vous avez pas lu ici ? que voulez vous voir plus ?

My apologies to readers as I have not been writing much lately. My business here on Miyakojima is grabbing much of my time and is taking nice shapes. The time left I have I give to my wife and my daughter. I should start again writing more regularly this week. Here in Miyakojima, Winter is as nice as Summer. There is no reason why one should not indulge in taking and showing you pictures of beautiful beaches in the middle of December.

La scène se passe a 13h30, au cap sud-est de miyako. Bien sûr à cet endroit il n’y a aucune entreprise ou boutiques ou le port du costume et de la cravate est indispensable. Et pourtant…
The time is 1:30 pm, at the far South-East tip of Miyakojima. There is not a single enterprise or boutique around that could justify waering that compulsory suit and necktie. And yet …

Here in Miyakojima, re-using is a matte of fact, even the boarding ramps for airplanes.

We often go (on stealh mode) visit the Tokyu Resort to enjoy the hotel pool. This time, we had the priviledge (or lack of luck?) to get a full view of a (yakuza?) Jpanese wering tradtional fundoshi pants at the pool side.
undoshi (褌?) is the traditional Japanese underwear for adult males, made from a length of cotton. Before World War II the fundoshi was the main form of underwear for Japanese adult males; however it went out of use quickly after the war with the advent of new underwear, such as briefs and trunks, on the Japanese market.
Well, frankly speaking, it doesn’t shine like the turquoise of the water. The pictures wer taken from a distance as I didn’t want trouble with that yakuz like ma.

Ce matin, j’ai voulu prendre des risques incroyables en voulant aller à la plage. Au risque de devoir faire quatres minutes de plus à vélo, j’ai pris un nouveau chemin. Au détour de celui-ci, j’ai découvert un petit parc très agréable pour faire un picnic. Je n’étais jamais allé à cet endroit et assez surpris de découvrir un…parc pour pieds.
Cela consiste en un petit parcours comme vous pouvez le voir sur la photo, avec pleins de petites boules, pics, ou zones en relief. Vous retirez vos chaussures et vous marchez (doucement) sur ces zones en reliefs. Cela revient à recevoir un massage plantaire.
Un guide vous montre où sont les zones des pieds en relation avec votre corps et vous explique les différentes méthodes pour se positionner sur ce chemin.
Une femme sur la plage de maehama, en combinaison de plongée complète, mais qui préfère quand même garder sa robe (classique bien sur) en laine pour aller dans l’eau.
